About Me

I am a PhD student at ETH Zurich. I study Information Theory and Digital Communications.

Previously, I obtained my master’s degree in electrical engineering from ETH Zurich, and my bachelor degree in Engineering Science (electrical engineering option) from the University of Toronto.

I am a bilingual Taiwanese-Canadian (Mandarin/English). I am also currently learning German.

My Logo

The favicon on this website is a Chinese calligraphy form of my last name (Hong, 洪). The script used here is called the small seal script (小篆), which dates back to the Eastern Zhou dyasty (approx. 500 BC) and is commonly used in traditional Chinese seals. I think it looks cool.

I never actually got a chance to specialize in small seal script, despite having practiced Chinese calligraphy since elementary school. Fortunately, my brother Albert Hong (check out his website !here), specializes in small seal script and offered to designed my favicon for me! Thank you Albert!
